Soundscapes

Sound offers unique opportunities for immersive storytelling. These productions use the acoustic medium as the main pivot to develop participatory experiences. At times, these productions give full space to the participants, through audio guides or by evoking presences and environments solely through sound, without involving live actors.

The Voices of Others

Talking Objects Collective Exhibit

Sala Colleoni - Academy of Fine Arts, Rome, IT

“The Voices of Others” is an exhibition dedicated to the interactive storytelling technique of Talking Objects, developed by Project xx1 in collaboration with national and international partners. The Talking Objects, on this occasion, give a voice to groups of people at risk of social exclusion and marginalization.

Each of these works invites the public into a private space: an intimacy revealed through interaction, offering itself for connection. It is an invitation to find the courage to take that step toward the unknown, the hidden, the truths that are only whispered.

Each work represents a life, a uniqueness, a breath – a person pushed to the margins of society by the judgment of others.

An opportunity to approach what we might often avoid in everyday life.

An artistic production project by the School of Decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome

Nexis (the Tango of freedom)

Collective Audioguide - 2024

A participatory experience using Wi-Fi headphones, stimulating relationships, dance, individual and collective actions, the creative use of space. Through the lens of the rituals of an ancient civilization that has long since vanished, it explores the concept of freedom, the invisible connections that shape our lives, and how our choices are interconnected—revealing how inclusion can be easily fostered or denied.

Developed in the frame of the European project 2023-3-IT03-KA153-YOU-000172324 "DIVE IN! Immersive Learning in Youth Work"

fugue, in three voices

promenade performance - 2016

A shelter, a telephone, a suitcase, chocolate and a bike. A love story dictated by the atrocities of the war. The first man, the woman and the second man, inspired by the theatre play “Histoire d’amour” by Jean-Luc Lagarce. Three different voices, their thoughts, their feelings perfectly intersect in a binaural design, with the suggestive background of a park.

An experience to be lived through headphones, choosing scene by scene one of the three audio channels, each linked to a character. The audience will thus be caught in the sounds of the feelings and thoughts of the three characters who, evoking live François Truffaut's “Jules et Jim”, move and live through the crucial events of their story.
